Crohn's disease
A very little known disease and whose main characteristic is the inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, and that can affect from the mouth of the anus to the last portion of the small intestine and first of the thick. The ulcers recurrent that usually occur sometimes cause narrowing and bleeding of the intestine.
The symptoms of Crohn's disease include abdominal pain, gas, rectal bleeding, fever, nausea and loss of appetite among others, often mistaken for appendicitis. In addition, since the food is not absorbed correctly, there is a significant lack of iron and vitamin B12.
This disease usually develops at an early age ranging from 15 to 30 years old and varies in intensity. and duration from one person to another, not having appreciated that there are important differences in terms of sex, being present in a similar proportion in both men and women. The causes that generate this ailment are unknown, although it is presumed that they can originate in the immune system of the person and for this reason is considered as autoimmune.
To diagnose it, in addition to a detailed medical history of the patient. patient, tests such as colonoscopy , endoscopy , analysis of blood and stool are added. Early diagnosis avoids confusing it with another ailment and makes possible the initiation of a treatment, thus reducing important damages to the organism.
In order to minimize the symptoms of the disease, a high diet should be followed in proteins and calories but low in fibers and fats , eliminating fried foods and supplanting them with boiled foods. Red meats and all raw products, tobacco and sugars should also be suppressed, taking two liters of water daily and omega-3 fatty acids.
